Another year and another fantastic SEMO District Fair!! We are so happy to be involved every year. We just finished up our 15th Annual Heartland Idol…hard to believe it’s been 15 years. The singers get better and better every year and this time around was no different. Had a crowd of around 1,000 to cheer on our 9 finalists. Congrats to Mercedes Dye! We appreciate all the support for this event over the years and say thank you to the SEMO Fair board for allowing us to be on the big stage for this great event!
Well we’ve put the power in your hands. K103 has added Country Control to www.k103fm.com. Every weekday between 9am and 5pm you will have the ability to vote on what song you want to kick off our music sweep. The music sweep begins around 10 minutes till the top of the hour. You get to pick what we call the Kick Pick. So visit the website throughout the day and get your votes in! Also, be on the look out for other ways that you can control what K103 plays. The power is truly in your hands. You can also sign up for alerts of your favorite songs…its good stuff. Kind it at www.k103fm.com
Hope all is well. I get to fill in a few days this week for Kent which is a blast. Kent’s show has a lot going on so the morning just zips by! Hopefully you had a great 4th of July. K103 was lucky enough to be at the City of Cape celebration along with the other that flooded the park. We were back in the park for the 5th of July Beach Party as well. Things keep rolling here. We had our Grace Reliant Heartland Idol tryouts this past Saturday. Boy was I impressed. We had a great turn out…there were new faces…and it’s amazing how well the group sang. The Brothers Walker had a hard time deciding who didn’t make the cut. Can’t wait to see how things unfold and there is the $1000 up for grabs. The first semi-final round is July 23rd at the West Park Mall. Hard to believe that summer is over half over. We’ll talk with you next time!
The Eric Church concert this past Saturday night was great. Black Diamond Harley in Marion, IL put on a top notch concert with one of the most popular acts that you could get. I was super impressed with the way Eric Church sounded. I thought he pulled off the live show great. This was my first time seeing him and he played for two hours…which was also great. Luckily the rain stopped for a day and it made for a beautiful Saturday night in Marion. Hopefully you got a chance to go but if not there are pictures at www.facebook.com/k103fm. Hard to believe that we are soon wrapping up June. Hope you had a great Fathers Day Weekend and hope you have a great week!
Summer keeps rolling on and we are already just a week away from Fathers Day. Our sister station (93.9 The River) hosted the Dad Olympics yesterday…it was a blast! What do you have planned for Fathers Day weekend? Hopefully it’s something good! This week is a busy one fore K103. We are continuing our Holiday World ticket blitz, Dierks Bentley tickets, and we’ll be at Smoothie King in Cape this Friday from 11a-1p. Then Eric Church in Marion, IL on Saturday…then time for Dad on Sunday! Also, don’t forget to sign up for our Cape Splash $200 gift card…what a deal. We are getting details set for the 5th of July Beach Party and Heartland Idol tryouts so be on the look out. As always we appreciate you listening and please feel free to reach out anytime…email@example.com
Still waiting on some local/regional music to feature on our website! Have a good one!
Not sure about you but it’s hard to believe that June is already here! We are one month away from the year being half over…time flies when you’re having fun. Thanks to everyone that came to the Main Street Flooring Man show and a huge thank you to the sponsors and vendors that were there all day this past Saturday. Things don’t stop in June. We have a huge blood drive coming up on June 12th. This is a Cardinal Baseball blood drive which means anyone that attempts to donate gets a Cardinal t-shirt and is also in the running to win Cardinal tickets and a Hutson’s Fine Furniture Gift Card. We’ll also be hitting the road for a few live remotes and don’t for get Eric Church in Marion, IL…we may have some tickets…maybe…working on it! Also, congrats to Candy Henry who was our gas for a year winner! Get those local/regional music submissions to us…mp3 and info to firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks for staring June with K103!
We all know that schools are out and that means a lot of summer activity for all of us. I live in the city of Cape and almost every day see careless driving, speeding, and “near misses” in traffic. Please slow down, watch for kids, and put your phone down please ! Some of our city streets are narrow and allow parking on both sides making it very difficult for traffic crossing those streets to see what’s coming, not to mention the traffic coming too fast. I’ll try if you will. Just slow down and try to be nice. I hope we have a Happy and SAFE summer !
With this past weekend being Memorial Day the “short” week has my days all messed up. Maybe you are experiencing the same! It was great having the Oak Ridge Boys this past weekend. They played two sold out shows at the Isle Casino Cape and it was a lot of fun. Luckily K103 got to announce the group so I was able to be at both shows to help with that. I was able to talk back stage to a couple of the Oak’s and they were extremely nice to talk with. A lot of the discussion was about their nomination for the Country Music Hall of Fame…which is long over due. They all felt like the timing was actually just right. They are playing 150 dates this year and want to play as much as the can. The hall of fame nod has given them a huge boost to play play play. How as your Memorial Day weekend? K103 wraps up the gas frenzy this Friday and we’ll be announcing who the gas for a year winner is with Kent on June 1. Don’t miss the Main Street Flooring Man Show this Saturday. $1,000 up for grabs! Get details at k103fm.com. Remember we are looking for local/regional bands to send us their stuff to email@example.com. Till next time!
We get a lot of requests to play local or regional artists/bands on K103. We’d love to be able to get everyone on but it’s just not possible. There’s been internal discussion on how to make it happen and we’ve decided to start on the digital side. So here’s the deal. We are going to begin asking for local or regional artists to send us their original music. We’ll take a listen to it and most likely feature it on this blog or somewhere at k103fm.com. So start spreading the word! Bands or artists need to send us original music in mp3 form. They can also send anything about the band or artist like bio’s, website addresses, if they are playing somewhere and so on. Make sense? Send all info to firstname.lastname@example.org. When we get a decent amount in we’ll start featuring them here! Hope that helps as a start. Thanks!
