Rachel Cook

I’m Rachel Cook, and you can catch me weekdays from 2–6pm on K103. I’ve spent 17 years in radio (about 12 of those with River Radio), and I still love it just as much as the day I realized this is what I wanted to do.

My radio journey started early—listening to Kent Crider in the mornings and knowing I was running late for school if Paul Harvey came on. In high school, a Broadcast Production class at the Cape Girardeau Career & Technology Center sparked my love for creating behind the scenes. That passion followed me to SEMO, where I declared a Mass Media–Radio major and was instantly hooked. There’s just something special about being able to turn someone’s day around with the right song at the right time.

On the air, my vibe is fun, light, and joyful. I want listeners to know it’s okay not to have everything figured out—we’re all just getting through the day together, and it helps when we don’t take ourselves too seriously.

Music is everything to me, especially when artists share the stories behind their songs. I love following country artists like Russell Dickerson, Dierks Bentley, Ella Langley, and Luke Bryan, and I’ll always be a Taylor Swift superfan. Mainstream country, contemporary Christian music, and 90s/early 2000s country will forever have me singing along.

When I’m not on the air, I’m usually traveling with my husband, cheering on our many nieces and nephews at everything from band concerts to cheer competitions, or heading to a country concert or sporting event. Food is a big part of how we spend time with our favorite people, and I’ll admit—one of my guilty pleasures is binge-watching terrible reality TV.

Fun fact: I’ve completed five half marathons as a St. Jude Hero, and I once had a poem about a nametag published in a book when I was in fourth grade.
